The Latino Celebrities Who Have Slammed Donald Trump
1. Ricky Martin
In a scathing op-ed he wrote for Univision last week, Martin criticized Trump for throwing Jorge Ramos out of a press conference in Iowa and called on his fellow Latinos to say, “Enough is enough.” “Let’s demand respect for those first generations of Latinos who came to the United States and opened a path for us,” he said. “We have fought for every right that we have today.”
2. Marc Anthony
Anthony put Trump on blast last week for his repeated, offensive comments about Latinos by tweeting, “What does it matter how much money you have when everything that comes out of your mouth isn’t worth 2 cents?” Later, he called on others to support Martin and tweeted (in Spanish), “The time has come to show them who we are!”
3. Shakira
After Trump argued that Mexico was just sending the U.S. its “rapists and criminals” in his presidential campaign announcement, Shakira denounced his comments as “racist hate speech” and said that “nobody in this country should stand behind so much ignorance.”
