The talks with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu came after Kim on Friday was shown some of Russia’s most advanced weapons systems deployed for its war on Ukraine, including nuclear-capable bombers and hypersonic missiles, and a key warship of its Pacific fleet, the Korean Central News Agency said. Mummified ‘alien’ corpses presented to Mexico Congress spark doubts among scientists

Supposed aliens landed in Mexico’s Congress but there were no saucer-shaped UFOs hovering over the historic building or bright green invaders like those seen in Hollywood films. The long-running debate on little green men in flying saucers hit Mexico City as lawmakers heard testimony on Tuesday from individuals suggesting the possibility that extraterrestrials might actually exist. The researchers hailed from Mexico, the US, Japan and Brazil. Watch the latest News on Channel 7 or stream for free on 7plus >> The session, unprecedented in the Mexican Congress, took place two months after a similar one before the US Congress in which a former US Air Force intelligence officer claimed his country has probably been aware of “non-human” activity since the 1930s. Mexican journalist José Jaime Maussan presented two boxes with supposed mummies found in Peru, which he and others consider “non-human beings that are not part of our terrestrial evolution”. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp is suspending state gas and diesel taxes again

Georgia’s governor is suspending state taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel ATLANTA -- Georgia's governor is again suspending state taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel, declaring a legal emergency over higher prices. Gov. Brian Kemp signed the executive order Tuesday morning. The suspension of the taxes, at 31.2 cents per gallon of gasoline and 35 cents per gallon of diesel fuel, begins Wednesday and lasts through Oct. 12. Georgia's government gave up an estimated $1.7 billion in revenue during an earlier suspension over 10 months from March 2022 to January 2023, about $170 million a month. Georgia can easily afford to forgo the cash, which is used mostly for roadbuilding. Not only is its rainy day account full, but it has roughly $10 billion in additional surplus cash in state accounts. The state is also likely to run another multibillion dollar surplus in the budget year that began July 1, unless revenues fall sharply. The move also lets Kemp shift the state's political conver

Texas heat brings the state's power grid closest it has been to outages since 2021 winter storm

The sweltering heat wave in Texas has the power grid manager again asking residents to cut electricity use HOUSTON -- Texas’ power grid manager on Thursday again asked residents to cut their electricity use as the state endures another stretch of sizzling summer heat. The request carried fresh urgency, coming the day after the system was pushed to the brink of outages for the first time since a deadly winter blackout in 2021. The request by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which serves most of the state ’s 30 million residents, came a day after low energy reserves prompted the grid operator to issue a level 2 energy emergency alert. Operating reserves fell as demand surged amid the heat, and power from wind and solar energy sources proved insufficient, according to ERCOT. It was the first time the council entered emergency operations since a deadly 2021 ice storm knocked out power to millions of customers for days and resulted in hundreds of deaths. How Man Utd's stock price fell by record amount

Image
It has been a pretty disastrous weekend for Manchester United. An agonising late defeat away at Arsenal, Jadon Sancho's angry social media response to Erik ten Hag and Antony's omission from the Brazil national team squad after allegations of domestic abuse. To take things from bad to worse, United's stock price plummeted on 5 September amid continued uncertainty over the club's future. A summer that promised a takeover at Old Trafford has underwhelmed supporters with the unanimously hated Glazers having not left the club. Despite bids coming in, the Glazers refused to part ways, with reports now suggesting United have been taken off the market altogether. All of this has led to a massive decrease in United's share prices, with Tuesday marking the worst day in the club's 11 years as a public company. Why did the Glazers not sell this summer? New York governor blocks discharge of radioactive water into Hudson River from closed nuclear plant

A measure to block discharges of radioactive water into the Hudson River as part of the Indian Point nuclear plant’s decommissioning has been signed into law by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul ALBANY, N.Y. -- A measure to block discharges of radioactive water into the Hudson River as part of the Indian Point nuclear plant's decommissioning was signed into law Friday by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul. The bill was introduced to thwart the planned release of 1.3 million gallons of water with traces of radioactive tritium from the retired riverside plant 25 miles (40 kilometers) north of New York City. The plan sparked a groundswell of opposition in the suburban communities along the river. Many feared the discharge s would depress real estate values and drive away sailors, kayakers and swimmers after decades of progress in cleaning up the Hudson River. Supporters of the planned releases say that they would be similar to those made when the Indian Point Energy Center was making electricity and
